Glacier
Large mass of ice , shaped like river flows very slowly down slopes
Ice sheet
Thick layer of ice covers more than 50,000 sq km covers landscape including mountains and valleys
Erosion
the wearing away of the land
Weathering
when rock/ice is exposed to weather conditions which cause it to change
Plucking
Rocks freeze into bottom and sides of glacier as it moves down hill it removes the rocks into the glacier form the ground
Abrasion
Glacier moves down rocks frozen to base and sides scrape rockes beneath rocks act like sandpapered and leaves scratches
Freeze-thaw weathering
Water freezes in crack and expands, eventually makes rock break
Corrie
Deep depression on hill with steep balk wall
Pyramidal peak
Sharp edged mountain where 2 or more arêtes meet
Arête
Knife edged ridge often formed between two corréis
U shaped valley
Wide steep sided valley eroded by glacier
Tarn
Depression on hill formed by glacier now full of melt water
Avalanche sheds
Covers road protects from avalanche
