freeze-thaw weathering
A
water in cracks in the rock freezes, expands and contracts weakening the rock until fragments break off.

loose rocks frozen onto the ice and are pulled away which steepens the back wall as the glacier moves

rocks embedded in the glacier scrape away at the ground as the glacier moves making it deeper
