GIT Flashcards
Swallowing (Deglutition)
Initiated by voluntary action (collecting oral contents on the tongue and propelling them backward into the pharynx)
Followed by a wave of involuntary contraction of the pharyngeal muscles that pushes the material into the esophagus.
Reflex responses triggered by afferent impulses in the trigeminal, glossopharyngeal and vagus nerves.
These impulses are integrated in the nucleus of the tractus solitarius and the nucleus ambiguus.
Efferent fibers pass to the pharyngeal muscles and the tongue via the trigeminal, facial and hypoglossal nerves.
Please describe the GIT secretion cells
Parietal (oxyntic) cells - HCl and intrinsic factor
Chief (zymogen, peptic) cells - pepsinogen and rennin
Surface mucous cells and mucous neck cells - mucous
S cells - secretin from the jejunum and the duodenum.
G cell - gastrin.
