What did Giotto do different than what was expected of him?
He worked on his family’s farm, until Cinnabue discovered his drawing and apprenticed him. His roadblocks were taking care of the sheep but he used his available time to draw.
Where was Giotto born? What was his family background?
In a small village near Florence. His parents were peasant farmers.
What were Giotto’s special skills? How did he develop them?
He was an artist. He drew all the time and he was apprenticed.
What were Giotto’s accomplishments?
He surpassed his teacher by mastering certain aspects of art. He was hired to do work for the Pope and head of the Florence Cathedral workshop.
Who were Giotto’s famous friends?
The Pope, Cinnabue.
How did he die?
He was almost 70 when he died. He was described as “born to give birth to the art of painting.”
