Trophzoite :
-half pear-shaped organism with 8 flagella and 2 axostyles arranged in a bilateral symmetry
The cytoplasm contains two nuclei and two parabasal bodies.
What is the type of the host of giardiasis?
No intermediate hosts are required.
What can increase the intestinal epithelium permeability?
The adhesion of trophozoites to the epithelium
What cause maldigestion and malabsorption?
Giardia-induced epithelial bush boarder microvilli shortening.
What activate the Enterocytes apoptosis in giardiasis
Caspase 3, Caspase 9 dependent.
What are the early symptoms of?
flatulence, abdominal distension, nausea and foul-
smelling bulky, explosive, and often watery, diarrhea. The stool contains excessive lipids (Steatorrhea)
What is the difference in dysentery caused by giardaisis with other dysentery?
