Ecchymosis around the umbilicus
Cullen’s sign (hemoperitoneum - pancreatitis; ectopic pregnancy)
Rebound tenderness
Peritoneal inflammation
Rebound tenderness 1/3 from from ASIS to umbilicus
McBurney’s point (appendicitis or peritoneal irritation)
Pain in RLQ during left sided pressure referred rebound tenderness
Rovsings sign (appendicitis)
Pain during Deep palpate on during inspiration
Murphy’s sign (acute cholecystitis)
Enlarged non-tender gallbladder
Courvoisiers sign (secondary to pancreatic disease or cancer)
Supine - flex hip against resistance - increased abdominal pain
Iliopsoas muscle test (irritation of psoas muscle from an inflamed appendix)
Supine - flex and internally rotate hip - right hypo gastric pain
Obturator muscle test (irritation of the obturator muscle from an inflamed appendix)
Supine - doc strikes patient’s heel. Pain upon striking
Heel strike (appendicitis)
Ecchymosis of the flanks
Grey Turner’s sign - hemoperitoneum (pancreatitis)
