  1. Somatostatin agonist –> reduces portal & splanchnic blood flow –> decrease portal HTN –> decrease variceal hemorrhage (dilated veins in submucosa of esophagus/stomach)
  2. Impaired pancreatic secretions –> steatorrhea, ADEK deficiencies - nausea, ab pain, flatulnce-gallstones
