GI exam part 3 cards Flashcards
What are the nerves associated with Osteopathic treatment of GI system?
collateral or prevertebral ganglia
What is the celiac ganglia level?
It is from T5-T9
What is the superior mesenteric ganglia level?
T10-T11
Inferior mesenteric ganglia level:
It is from T12- L2 and right above umbilicus
What are the autonomic effects on GI?
Sympathetic: decrease the motility and secretions, vasoconstriction, contraction of sphincters.
What are the 3 big ways to treat sympathetic system in GI?
chapman’s point, sympathetic chain VSR levels, vasoconstriction.
What do all disease processes have in common?
sympathetic hyperactivity
What do GI lymphatics drain into?
They go from cysterna chyli to thoracic duct.
Tx approach is wheat for osteopathic approach?
Tx somatic dysfunction of VSR level. Rib raising. Paraspinal inhibition, all targeted at sympathetics
Parasympathetics tx:
vagus nerve with OA treatment, sacral rocking, sacral inhibition, lymphatics like thoracic inlet release
What are the symptoms involved:
GERD PUD Diarrhea IBD IBS Diverticular
GERD: increase sympathetics
PUD: increase sympathetics
Diarrhea: sacral inhibition
Constipation: sacral rocking
IBD: chapman’s point on lower ribs ( 8-11).
VSR levels 7- 11. superior mesenteric and celiac ganglia
Superior mesenteric and celiac ganglia. Chapman’s point on lower ribs 8-11.
What are the levels for the celiac ganglia?
What are the inferior mesenteric levels?
What are the levels for the superior mesenteric ganglia?
T5-T9, and it goes from the stomach to duodenum.
T12-L2, the left colon to the rectum.
T10-T11: jejunum to right colon + kidneys and adrenals
