A

NK-1 antagonist - acts on vomiting center in CNS — inhibits substance P (neurotransmitter involved in vomiting)

Adv effects:
D: Allergic reactions - anaphylaxis/ anaphylactoid, Ataxia/ tremors, Fever
C: injection site pain, anorexia, hypersalivation

Metoclopramide

A

Dopamine receptor antagonist, weak 5HT3 antagonist, 5HT4 agonist
Prokinetic - increased LES tone
Antiemetic

Adv effects:
D:
- Change in behavior/ mentation (restlessness, spasms, aggression)
- increase detrussor contractility
- extrapyramidal signs

C:
- behavior change, disorientation
- constipation

Cisapride

A

5HT4 agonist
Stimulates smooth muscle contraction , increases gastric contraction, increases gastric emptying

Adv effects:
D: vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort
- prolonged QT, cardiac arrhythmias (not reported in dogs/ cats)
