Ghettos were enclosed districts where jews were forcibly relocated to from their homes, and isolated.

Overcrowding included 15 people sharing a regular sized apartment, two percent of which had running water.

The largest ghetto was the warsaw ghetto in poland, it held 400,000 people in an area of 1.3 square miles.

The ghettos were used as means for concentrating the jews in preperation for their eventual deportation to camps.
What did the preparation process do?
The preperation process in ghettos dehumanized the jews, reducing them to an isolated, controlled life and further assisted in the plan of the final solution
