Where are germs found?
Germs are found everywhere.
How do pathogens enter our body and what can they cause?
Pathogens enter our body through our mouth, nose, and eyes and attach to our lungs or stomach but can enter into the bloodstream. Pathogens that enter our lungs can cause Pneumonia.
Describe Germs:
Most harmless, Some are pathogens (affect our body in bad way)
What is bacteria:
Cell organism that thrives in a specific environment.
Name the four things for bacteria:
- Good (symbiotic or probiotics)
- Bad (pathogens)
- Causes infections
- Treat with antibiotics or vaccines.
Give examples of bacteria:
E.Coli, Salmonella, Gingivitis
What is fungus:
Single or multiple cellular organism
Name the four things for fungus:
- Eats other organic substances
- Dark, moist, warm places
- Reproduce easily and release airborne spores.
- Antifungals
Give an example of fungus:
Tinea
What is a virus:
Piece of genetic material surrounded by protein.
Name the three things for viruses:
- Invade healthy cells create more virus.
- Destroy healthy cells in process
- Air, water, blood
Give examples of viruses
Hepatitis, Covid, herpes
Describe COVID:
(SARS-COV-2)
Variants- when virus changes
- Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta
- Right now we are Omicron
Describe Vaccines:
- Safe, effective, and relatively free
- Most effected: old people and super young
