A

Wolfgang Kapp led 5000 men (free corps) to take over berlin and then country (make army strong, recover lands) but workers went on strike because he didn’t have their support and after 100 hours fled

A

left wing workers in ruhr stayed on strike and took over several towns. free corps were sent and over 1000 workers were killed

8 November 1923 fired bullet into ceiling and began to take over Bavaria and Berlin - storm troopers everywhere,Kahr went back on word and contacted police but 2000 marched through but were met by armed police

A

trial for 24 days, Ludendorff free and Hitler in jail for 5 years and wrote Mein Kampf which was a best seller and was released in December 1924, he knew he had to change his ways

How did Nazi Party grow after the Depression?

A

Wall street crash of 1929 meant USA wanted money back and no goods were selling (no one made money), millions blamed Weimar government and went to radical groups
Nazi party was at 230 seats in July 1932

What else caused the Nazi’s to grow?

A
fear of communists - stormtroopers fought communists as 1917 revolution in Russia, Hitler gained middle/upper class
structure/tactics - after Munich Putsch he changed his tactics by setting up officers every where (400,000 by 1932), propaganda (Joseph Goebbels), parades, Hitler Youth Organisation

How did Hitler become chancellor?

A

Sept 1930 Bruning became chancellor as no single party won and Nazi’s had 2nd highest seats
Bruning resigned and Hidenburg gave it to Von Papen who called another election and the Nazis became the largest party, Von Papen resigned after Hidenburg appointed him again
Von Schleicher became chancellor but resigned and so in 1933 Hitler became chancellor
