Mosel Anbaugebite had a name change, what year it happend and what was the previous name used?
It happend on 1. August 2007
The previous name used was Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.
Mosel as a region location?
It follows the Mosel and its tributaries ( Saar, Ruwer, Koblenz ), where it meets the Rhine on the border with Luxemburg in the south.
Where are the vineyars situated?
On steep south-faceing sloops, and many are totally inaccessible to machinery.

It have large quantity of blue and red slate.
This slate radiate the heat on the grapes during the day and night, that helps gapes to ripen, incrise dranage and slow down erosion of the soil from the steep slopes as well as adding its own character to the wine.
