Half of the infected individual are asymptomatic

Rash, and suboccipital adenopathy (small children)

Arthralgia, Arthritis, and Thrombocytopenic purpura (older children, adolescents, and adults)

  1. Sudden onset of fever and malaise with body temp between 38.5 C - 40.5 C
  2. Severe headache and abd colic
  3. Chills
  4. Anorexia, Nausea
  5. Tender lymphadenopathy

A
  1. Enanthem that evolved rapidly from macules followed by papules and then vesicles
  2. Rash appeared usually 2-4 days after the onset of fever
    - forehead (herald spots)
  • lesions would appear on the proximal extremities
  • trunk
  • the distal portions of the extremities
