A

A

myalgia, muscle oedema, evidence of trauma, tea-coloured urine (myoglobinuria)

A
  • Urinalysis: myoglobinuria
  • ECG: life-threatening complications, e.g. hyperkalaemia.
  • ABG/VBG: metabolic acidosis with a raised anion gap.

rhabdomyalsis - relevant lab investifations and findings (x4) 1

A
  • Serum CK: essential >5x normal limits.
  • U&E: AKI and identify hyperkalaemia.
  • LFTs: elevated transaminases (AST/ALT - non-specific marker of muscle injury).
  • Bone profile: hyperphosphatemia and hypocalcemia (hypocalcemia - myocyte necrosis is associated with significant calcium influx to the cell).
