Geometry Yr 7 Flashcards
Sum of the interior angles in a quadrilateral
The combined interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360 degrees
Sum of the exterior angles of a polygon
The combined exterior angles of a polygon is 360 degrees
Sum of the interior angles of a polygon
The formula for calculating the sum of interior angles is ( n − 2 ) × 180 Interior angles sum up to 180(n-2) n= number of sides
Interior + exterior angles of a polygon add up to?
180 degrees
Calculate the size of the exterior and interior angle in a regular pentagon.
Method one The sum of exterior angles is 360° The exterior angle is 360 ÷ 5 = 72° The interior and exterior angles add up to 180° The interior angle is 180 - 72 = 108° Method two The sum of interior angles is (5 - 2) × 180 = 540° The interior angle is 540 ÷ 5 = 108° The interior and exterior angles add up to 180° The exterior angle is 180 - 108 = 72°
What are angles in parallel lines which appear to have an F formation called?
Corresponding angles. Corresponding angles are equal.
What shape do alternate angles form?
The form a Z shape, and are equal to each other.
What are adjacent angles?
Next to each other on a straight line and add up to 180 degrees
What are supplementary angles?
Any angles that add up 180 degrees
What are interior angles?
In a C shape and add up to 180 degrees.
What are the properties of a polygon?
A shape with at least three straight sides and angles.
What are the properties of an equilateral triangle
Three sides, all same length, 3 equal angles
What are the properties of an isosceles triangle?
Two equal sides and 2 equal angles
What are the properties of a scalene triangle
No equal sides or angles
How do work out the sum of the interior angles of a regular polygon?
180*(n-2) n=number of sides
