What are self luminous object
Objects that gives out light on its own
What are non luminous object
Objects that doesn’t gives out light on their own
What is light
Light is a form of energy that travels away from the source producing it at a speed of 3x10(8) m/s. [ms(-1)]
What is a diverging beam
A beam of light may be spreading out like the light from touch.
What is converging beam
A beam of light may be getting narrower
What is parallel light
A beam of light may remain the same width.
What is a light Ray
A straight light showing the direction in which the light is travelling
What is reflection of light
The bouncing off light of an object
What is diffuse reflection
If the surface on which the light shine is rough , the reflected Ray is scattered in all direction
What is regular reflection.
If the surface on which the light shines is silvered smooth polished - such a surface is called a mirror - the light falling on it is not scattered in all direction instead it is reflected off.
What is plane mirror
If the mirror is flat
What is incident Ray
The light falling on the mirror
What is normal at the point of incidence
The line drawn perpendicular to the mirror where the ray strikes the mirror.
What is reflected Ray
The Ray of light leaving the mirror.
What is angle of incidence
The angle between the incidence and the normal Ray ( i )
What is angle of reflection
The angle between the reflected Ray and the normal. (r)
What are the laws of reflection
- The angle of incidence , the normal at the point of incidence , the reflected Ray all lie on the same place.
- The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
What is a virtual image
A virtual image is an image formed by the apparent intersection of light Ray.
What is parallax.
The apparent moment of the object relative to another due to the motion of the observer.
