Q

Explain why the rainforest is a high level of biodiversity.

A

This is because the plants adapt to the rainforest, with the sunlight, humidity. There is also a lot of rain, hence why it’s called a rainforest. The soil is also very wet, with lots of nutrients and energy in the soil.

Q

Identify and explain how vegetation adapts to the rainforest climate.

A

The vegetation adapts to the rainforest due to the sunlight they get, some can even grow on trees, these are called epiphytes. This also has to do with humidity.

Q

Explain why 3 factors cause deforestation.

A

Cattle Ranching, is when animals are feeding themselves off to the rainforests vegetation. This is bad, because it ruins the use of our vegetation. Slash and Burn, is used mainly by local tribes in the rainforest, this is when people cut and burn down trees and plants for their own benefits, food, shelters, fire etc. Logging also causes deforestation, yet it may not be big in the causes of deforestation, it’s still a part of it, this is simply when people are cutting down trees to sell wood, if this keeps happening on a bad rate, we will have an unsustainable amount of trees, also ruining our atmosphere.

Q

Explain how deforestation causes impacts to climate, atmosphere, soil, biodiversity.

A

It affects the atmosphere because the trees are needed for oxygen, but the more trees cut down, less oxygen.

A
  • Reduce the amount of meat eaten
  • Reduce the amount of trres cut down
  • Restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down

Q

Explain how Ecotourism, Agro-forestry and Conservation Swaps are sustainable: socially, economically, and
environmentally.

A

This is sustainable environmentally due to using one part of the forest at a time, making it possible to use otherwise when necessary keeping our plants and trees going. Economically, this helps companies buy selling the resources to people for our every day lives with commercials.

Q

Explain why a variety of approaches to developing the rainforest are needed for it to be sustainable.

A

Doing this could save our atmosphere, but reducing the amount of cut wood.

We’d still have a supply of wood if we manage on how much cut down.
