Geography (Atmosphere, climate zones) Flashcards

1
Q

5 layers of atmosphere and their functions (Inner to outer)

A
  1. Troposhere (Most inner, weather is formed here)
  2. Statosphere (O zone layer, protects us from harmful UV rays)
  3. Mesosphere (Coldest, meteorites break apart here)
  4. Thermosphere (Hottest, deep as all other 5 combined)
  5. Exosphere (Fades into space, satellites here)

Q

How does altitude change temperature

A

higher you go, air particles further you go. Colder. Less air to exert pressure, fewer molecules to absorb or retain heat.

Q

sea breeze VS land breeze

A

at day, warm air goes from land, cold air goes from ocean. SEA BREEZE

at night, warm air goes from sea, cold air goes from land. LAND BREEZE
