What is hydraulic action
The force of the water hitting the rock and squeezing air into the cracks in the rocks.
What is abrasion?
The bits of rock carried in the water blasting into the cliff.
What is attrition?
Rocks hitting each other and breaking into smaller rocks.
What is corrosion?
The chemical reaction between the sea water and minerals in the rocks. The sea dissolves the minerals and the rock begins to break up.
What does hard rock turn into?
A headland
What does soft rock turn into?
Bays.
What rock take longest to erode?
Granite, it has been formed by lava and magma cooling around volcanos.
What is the quickest rock to erode?
Boulder clay, it is used on the fastest eroding coasts in England
How are headlands formed?
By the bays being pushed back into the land.
How are bays formed?
Made of weaker rock,is slowly eroded and sheltered by headlands.

When the wind and the sea work together to move particles up a beach in a diagonal motion.
What is a spit?
The area of land created by longshore drift.
What is a swash?
The movement of the waves going up the beach diagonally.
