Define geographical profiling
Building a profile based on location and time of a crime
What 4 catagories are used to build a geographical profile?
Locatedness
Systematic crime location
Centrality
Comparative case analysis
Define locatedness
Where a victim was initially met, where attack occurs, where they are killed and where the body is disposed of
Define Systematic crime location
Location is important to offenders, and therefore is not random. Familiarity is important.
Define Centrality
There are two types of offenders: Marauderer and Commuter
Define what is meant by Commuter
Offender who travels outside of their normal activity space to commit crimes
Define what is meant by Marauders
Offenders who commit crimes in areas that are familiar to them
Define comparative case analysis
Other crimes should be considered as being committed by the same offender
