What is geography
Geography is the study of the earth its features and its inhabitants
What is included in physical geography
Rainforest/deserts,the atmosphere,rivers,earthquakes/volcanoes,ecosystem and coasts
What is included in human geography
Quality of life, population, settlement, trade and development and industry
What is included in environmental geography
Human impacts on climate change, pollution, use of natural resources and waste management
What did people need in a settlement
Fresh water supply - usually a river
What did people need in a settlement
Grazing land for animals - can be hilly
What did people ned in a settlement
Fuel for heat and cooking - usually wood
What did people need in a settlement
Defence against enemies - usually a hilltop or some other feature which was easy to defend

Building material for a house - usually wood; this would provide shelter

Arable land to grow crops - usually flat
