Q

Does the purpose of the map affect the type of symbols used to represent things on the map? Explain.

A

yes. for eg, if purpose of map is to mainly show the features of a school, then a polygon used to represent the school area itself. However, if the map is used to show the map of a town, then a dot for a school will suffice.
