Stuart island
Has 2 prominent hills near the middle, 640ft high. Turn pt is on its west extremity, is bold, steep and marked by turn pt. Light.
Spieden island
2.5nm long in an E direction wi th and extreme width of .5nm. The S side of the island has few trees but the N face is well wooded. Green Pt on the E end is marked by a light and is low and grassy
Henry island
Is close to NW Pt on San Juan Is. And is separated by mosquito pass. On its S end is Kellet bluff which is steep and rocky and prominent from N and S, marked by a light
Battleship island
Small and 30ft high at the north extremity of Henry Is. When viewed from E or W has appearance of a battleship
San Juan island
Largest of the group, 13nm long, rugged and partly wooded
- mount Dallas - highest of several hills on the island. Rises abruptly from the middle of the W side to 1080ft.
-roche hrb- on N end of Is. Marked by a light shown from a 31ft white octagonal tower. 2 dwellings are about 150yds SE of light
- cattle Pt- SE extremity of Is. And forms the West Point at S entrance to San Juan Channel. Marked by a 94ft high light shown from a white octagonal tower
- Friday hrb - onW shore. Has marina that is protected by floating breakwaters marked by lights. WSF landing and customs office
- UW marine laboratory- .4nm NNW from brown is. Concrete buildings are prominent
Flattop island
Prominent on the N approaches to San Juan channel. 174ft high, flat on top and sparsely covered with underbrush and trees
Waldron island
Steep and rocky on E side but flat with Sandy beaches on N and W side. Irregular in shape and 3nm long, highest point is 612ft near Pt. Disney.
Jones island
Off the west side of orcas island separated by springs pass. Wooded and is a state park with mooring buoys. A day beacon marks a rock on the ne side.
Orcas island
A- Mt. Constitution- 2454ft high, marked by a stone lookout tower and a lighted radio tower
B- Turtleback mountain- conical and bare on the summit. West part of the island, prominent and easily recognized
C- crane island- off entrance to deer hrb. N shore is foul with bare and cover rocks
D- deer harbor- east of steep point. Has village with stores, a marina and a Inn. Give E shore 300 yards clearance because of shoal
E- orcas - summer resort with 5 white tanks near the back of wharf. WSF terminal
F- West sound - indents the W part of the S shore for about 2.8nm. Has the largest marina on the island
G- has largest village on orcas Is.
H- Pt. Doughty- NW tip of orcas island. Bare and terminates in a small knob on its outer end. Resort is 1.5nm to the E
Wasp islands/ Wasp pass
Are in the W approach to West sound between neck Pt. And steep Pt. Several narrow channels lie between the islands
Shaw island
Village served by ferry. Has store, warehouse and a floating landing with 25 slips for small craft
Lopez island
A- fisherman’s bay- on E side of San Juan channel. Is a shallow lagoon entered by a marked narrow and tortuous channel.
B- upright head- narrow peninsula that attains an elevation of 260ft. has WSF slip at tip of peninsula.
C-Lopez hill - 488ft high, near the S midsection of Lopez Is.
D- Richardson- 5 fuel tanks are prominent from seaward
Blakely island
Is off the E end of Lopez Is. At its N end is a small craft basin with approx 65 berths
Sinclair island
N of cypress island, wooded and comparatively low in places. Dangerous reefs extend .8nm off the N shore.
Cypress island
1530ft high, steep on lower slopes and gently rounded at top
