This is where a characters has a fatal flaw
-Williams focus on domestic conflict and finds interest in minor dramas of common people within the play
-Blacnhe’s fatal flaw was her inability to change
Southern gothic
-Characters are often: deeply flawed, disturbing or eccentric
-Setting are: decayed or derelict
-Events: sinister events stemming from poverty, alienation or crime
Aristotle’s unities
-character born to greatness-The higher they are, the further they fall (Blanche)
-Hamartia- The character’s fatal flaw that leads to their downfall
-Nemesis-A person working against the protagonist
-Peripeteia-A reversal of fortune
