Q

what does the romance genre imply

A

Romance
It is unusual for a novel to be written in a first person female perspective especially a one that describes the narrators feelings so intensively.

Mr R is not what you would describe as good looking with dark features, heavy brow, stern face he is what you would consider a Byronic hero. A Byronic hero implies Mr R is flawed, passionate, mysterious and by depicting him like this would immediately imply that Jane would be attracted to him

Typical characteristics of a Romance genre are that two people fall in love, there is an obstacle, they over come the obstacle and live happily ever after. In the case of Jane Eyre, the obstacle is Bertha
