Genomics and NGS analysis Flashcards

Q
Outline the sources of errors that could occur during NGS
A
- PCR artefacts and duplicates: the artefacts will show up as mismatches
- Sequencing errors: made by the machines
- Mapping errors: when mapping algorithm maps a read to a wrong location, which often occur around repeats or low-complexity regions
1
Q
Define genomics
A
Discipline in genetics that applies recombinant DNA, DNA sequencing methods, and bioinformatics to sequence, assemble and analyse the function and structure of genomes
