lactobacillus predominates with entrobacctericae, streptococci, and anaerobes
- some may be colonized with Group B strep

A
smears cannot be used to determine if there is a N. Gonorrohea infections because some of the other normal flora have the same morphology

used to determine if you have a good specimen
- based on the presence of Gardinella/ provetella, and Mabiluncus
- 0-3 noraml
- 4-6 altered
- 7-10 bacterial vaginosis
