Q

What is genetic engineering?

A

Genetic engineering is more precise and quick then selective breeding, now this means they can alter the organisms genes to produce an organism with desired characteristics. E.g. Crops that are resistant to disease.

Q

Advantage of genetic engineering-

A

A very precise process as single genes can be targeted and much quicker, it can change in one generation

Q

How do you alter organisms genes?

A

Takes genes from another organism that shows a desired characteristic, known as foreign genes. Then this gene is placed in a plant or animal at a early stage of its development.
