What is asexual reproduction and what uses it?
Bacteria, plants and some animals can asexually reproduce. It involves only one parent and the offspring has identical DNA to this parent.
How does cloning in animals occur?
It can occur naturally if an embryos cells separate.
Or artificially when the nucleus from an adult body cell is transferred to an unfertilized egg cell. Environmental factors can cause differences in clones.
What are stem cells and how do different kinds work?
Stem cells are unspecialised cells that can turn into other body cells. Adult stem cells are location specific so different kinds can only become certain cells. However embryonic stem cells are able to develop into any cells.
What are the uses of stem cells?
They can be used to treat some illnesses and research is always developing to try and allow them to replace body parts.
Most cells become specialised during the development of an organism.
