Explain 3 facts or changes that occur during the following hair growth stages
Anagen - ( A for ACTIVE ) growing and active stage. Mitosis occurs forming follicle and hair. Attached to dermal papill and blood capillaries. BEST STAGE FOR WAXING
Catagen ( C for CHANGING) ( transition )
Changing stage in which the follicle and hair shaft stop growing and can last 2-4 weeks
Matrix becomes detached from the dermal
Papilla, cutting off hair from the blood supply which causes the bulb to shrink and the hair becomes drier. Hair starts to rise up to the follicle growing longer which is held in place by cells of inner root sheath. Follicle begins to shrink and collapse below rising hair.
Telogen - resting phase
Resting stage where the hair is shed
Follicle is two thirds shorter than at anagen
Hair is pushed out making room for new hair
These are blood vessels
Capillaries
Veins ( de oxygenated blood back to the heart ) Venus return
Venule
Arterioles
Arteries ( carry oxygenated blood away from
The heart )
