- sheltered by parents from harsh realities
- generation iY has safety belts on everything
- most protected generation in NA

- difficulties fulfilling commitments
- lack of developing strong independent coping skills
- age of discovery of porn has lowered to 8
- pushed to grow up quickly

SELF-ABSORBED, YET GENEROUS
- raised to be consumers not contributors
- self esteem has been emphasized over selflessness
- me centered generation
- they have a desire to fight aids and poverty, but they are only a generous while it is a fad
- they appreciate the FEELING of serving others

A
SOCIAL, YET ISOLATED
- teens are used to cooperating in groups and teams
- are in constant contact with peers via facebook, text, snapchat, etc.
- this media is what isolates them from others
- this can lead to miserable relationship skills, and low emotional intelligence
- they will be better at interacting over technology rather than face to face

AMBITIOUS, YET ANXIOUS
- Teens have been called slackers however many of them have been quite ambitious
- 94% of students are overwhelmed with lifestyles
- 44% were too depressed to function
- 10% considered suicide
- stress can come from parents who push academic or athletic excellence
- teens have high expectations of them, but were not properly equipped for how to achieve them
- culture tells them they need to be perfect (beautiful)

ADVENTUROUS, YET PROTECTED
- life is like a reality show, exciting yet controlled
- they love the thrill that life gives them, but dont know how to navigate the real world of people and jobs
- my job, marriage, ministry and life always have to be exciting
- they cant deal with boredom, so they either quit or find something else

A
VISIONARY, YET INDECISIVE
-Exposed to so many ideas, they have time sitting down and picking one
-get passionate for a cause, but only while it’s a fad
-this leads to longer post secondary school and church hopping
-hard for young people to commit to beliefs; there will always be something better
-leads to regret and dissatisfaction
