What are the general JM responsibilities?
-All JM duties begin immediately upon notification -Regardless of rank, AJM and Safeties are under command of the PJM. -Don’t sacrifice safety standard to meet a timeline or to conduct the airborne operation.
Safety Duties in Flight.
-Assist the JMs in safely conducting airborne op -Relocate jumpers in aircraft (safety, jump refusal) -Begin checking static lines at the command of “Hook Up” -Control Static Lines during exit procedure -Visually Check for towed jumpers -Retrieve static lines and D-Bags
What is the definition of a high performance aircraft?
• High-performance aircraft: C-130, C-17, C-27J (ARMY) High-performance aircraft are defined as a fixed-wing aircraft with a drop speed of 125 Knots Indicated Airspeed (KIAS) or greater. They have the ability to determine the airdrop release point (CARP) by a member of the aircrew (navigator) Must be able to exit paratroopers out of a troop door using either ADEPT option two or MASS Exit procedures.

In-Flight Rigging: Purpose of 5 min standard during the SLJMQC. • 52 jumpers (w/CE) including 2 non-jumping safeties • 2 loadmasters • 3 additional AJMs included for rigging and JMPI in flight • Rigging begins 2:20 from TOT, complete by :20 warning

Over the Ramp • 40 jumpers (w/equip.) including 2 non-jumping safeties • 2 Load Masters • 20 jumper limit per anchor line cable • If the JM and AJM jump, they’re 1st parachutist of each stick. Safeties control flow of parachutists • Door check not required • For GMRS, static JM must spot ground marking from port side

2 hours 20 minutes – In-Flight Rigging Operations (TAP-2)
C-17/C-130 Time Warnings: 20 minutes
20 minutes - In-flight rigging complete. Jumpers alert with helmets fastened. Position bundles near door, hook-up to outboard anchor line cable, and inspect. Attach special items of equipment to respective jumpers and inspect
C-17/C-130 Time Warnings: 10 minutes
10 minutes – Red light. Aircrew notifies JM inspections complete. JM hooks-up to inboard anchor line cable, begin jump commands
C-17/C-130 Time Warnings: 6 minutes
6 minutes - Aircrew completes 6-minute slowdown check: • Aircraft slows to 130 KTS +/- 3 • Troop doors open • Air deflectors deploy • Loadmaster stands aft of jump door • Loadmaster gives thumbs-up, “YOUR DOOR, ARMY!” • JM performs troop door safety checks, outside air safety checks, and spots for checkpoints
C-17/C-130 Time Warnings: 1 minute
1 minute – Issue warning with lead hand, spot for checkpoints
