General Principles Flashcards
BAT, followed by persistent pneumothorax and significant air leak following chest tube placement in a patient who sustained blunt chest trauma
tracheobronchial rupture (MCC R main bronchus injury)
BAT resulting in tachycardia, new BBB or arrhythmia. What’s the cause?
myocardial contusion, MCC by sternal fx
BAT resulting in muffled heart sounds, hypotension, distended neck veins. What’s the cause?
cardiac tamponade caused by myocardial rupture
BAT resulting in abdominal pain, pain referred to shoulder, SOB, +/- vomiting
diaphragmatic rupture.
Glascow Coma Scale
Eye _/4 (four eyes)
Verbal Response _/5 (Jackson Five)
Motor Response _/6 (V6 engine)
Platelet counts greater than ____ provide adequate hemostasis fo rinvasive procedures
50,000
Hb drops below 7 (anemia) and what happens
tissue oxygen delivery becomes deficient, so transfusion before surgery is required
INR normal and therapeutic levels
In healthy people an INR of 1.1 or below is considered normal. An INR range of 2.0 to 3.0 is generally an effective therapeutic range for people taking warfarin for disorders such as atrial fibrillation or a blood clot in the leg or lung.
