What is a licenced medicine?
A medicine that has been proven to have efficay at treating a specific medical condition safely at a stated dose. It must be proven to the MHRA with scientific evidence.
Can un-licenced medicine be used to treat patients?
Yes, you can use medicine to treat conditions other than what they are licenced for. This medicine will be safely aproved for another medication, and will be termed off-label.
Specific instructions must be given on how to use this evidence.
What is the definition of a medical device?
Any instrument, apperatus, impliment, machine, appliance, implant,, software, or reagent for in vitro use intended by the manufacturer to be used for specific medical purposes.
What asepcts should be considered when planning immunomodulatory treatment in patients?
Need for full consent with alternatives discussed.
Patient given information on all drugs and risks.
Treatment outcome understood by patient and clinician.
