Q

Hypertrophy mechanism, examples?

A

Increased cell size due to increased synthesis of protein
Occurs in permanent or non dividing cells
Physiological: uterine myometrium during pregnancy, breast during lactation, skeletal muscle in bodybuilding
Pathological: LVH,Bladder obstruction lead to proximal hypertrophy
