Accident investigation
What are the eight things on the checklist an officer should do when arriving to an accident scene
Check for injuries & summon medical assistance.
Identify hazardous material , dangerous conditions or fire threats ** request for assistance if need be
Locate witnesses
Preserve evidence
Protect involved persons from more injury or damage.
Restore flow of traffic
Ensure safe keeping of property
Give PP numbers

What is considered a fatal accident
Any traffic accident in which the victim dies of injuries sustained in the accident and death occurs within 30 days

Contact the appropriate hospital to determine the status of injured parties * to ensue notification to the collision analysis and reconstruction is not required

Vehicles with a valid temp tag or transport sticker
