Light Signals to Aircraft - Steady Green
In Flight - Authorised to land if pilot satisfied no collision risk exists
On Airport - Authorised to take-off if pilot satisfied no collision risk exists
Light Signals to Aircraft - Steady Red
In Flight - Give way to other aircraft and continue circling
On Airport - Stop
Light Signals to Aircraft - Green Flashes
In Flight - Return for landing
On Airport - Authorised to taxi if pilot satisfied no collision risk exists
Light Signals to Aircraft - Red Flashes
In Flight - Airport unsafe – do not land
On Airport - Taxi clear of landing area in use
Light Signals to Aircraft - White Flashes
In Flight - No significance
On Airport - Return to starting point on airport
Light Signals to Aircraft acknowledgements by aircraft
In flight:
1. during the hours of daylight: by rocking the aircraft’s wings
Note: this signal should not be expected on the base and final legs of the approach
2. during the hours of darkness: by flashing on and off twice the aircraft’s landing lights or, if not so equipped, by switching on and off twice its navigation lights
On the ground:
- during the hours of daylight: by moving the aircraft’s ailerons or rudder
- during the hours of darkness: by flashing on and off twice the aircraft’s landing lights or, if not so equipped, by switching on and off twice its navigation lights
