Adverse events
A complication resulting from a treatment.
Efficacy
The effectiveness of a treatment
Etiology
Cause of a disease or condition.
Hyperplasia
The increase in the number of normal (i.e., noncancerous) cells in tissue or an organ.
Incidence
The frequency that something occurs; when measuring the frequency of a disease, incidence
relates to the number of people who are typically diagnosed in a given time period, usually
one year
Interventional Therapy
A surgical or endoscopic procedure.
Medical therapy
Medication prescribed to treat symptoms of a condition.
Morbidity
Illness or disease
Pathophysiology
Abnormal function of an organ because of disease; can also be used to describe the process
of a disease.
Prevalence
The proportion of all individuals who have a disease/condition. This differs from incidence
which measures just the number of people with new diagnoses.
Prognosis
The forecast of the likely outcome or course of a disease or intervention.
