General Knowledge Flashcards
Minimum battery voltage for starting the APU
22 volts
Reasons APU will automatically shutdown
Loss of APU oil px
Overspeed in excess of 106%
APU compartment fire
Things to check for prior to turning a fuel and ignition switch for ground starts
Beta light- on TIT- below 200 RPM- zero indicated Propeller- no rotation Power lever- ground start
When are the anti-collision lights required to be on?
Whenever engines are turning
Requirements before shifting an engine
Engine Anti-ice (engines being shifted)- OFF
Speed- below 50kts
Power Lever- at or near minimum torque (ground start) as taxi requirements allow
Takeoff brief
FE, on my command set XXX TIT. CP call 80 kts for a power/airspeed check. We’re looking for XXXX SHP and will abort with anything less than XXXX SHP. Call refusal at XXX and rotate at XXX. Call out all malfunctions by type and engine number. If we have a malfunction prior to refusal, I’ll abort the takeoff. If we have a prop malfunction prior to refusal, I’ll initiate the abort by retarding the power levers toward flight idle while calling for the appropriate E-Handle. If we have a malfunction after refusal, I will fly the aircraft and once we’re safely airborne, we’ll handle the malfunction IAW Natops. Are there any questions?
Climb schedule airspeeds
4 engine: 220 up to 10k then -2kts/1k feet
3 engine: 190 up to 20k then -2kts/1k
Two engine: 180 at all altitudes
During an NTS check, if there is insufficient negative shaft, what should you do?
Open the fuselage bleed air shut off valves to make the engine more inefficient. It may also be necessary to to yaw the aircraft slightly momentarily
NTS check set up
8k or below
180+/-10 (consider 1.52)
800 shaft minimum
NTS feather Valve switch- feather Valve check
Sync master and servo off for engine being checked
Wing Deicer switches- on
Engine anti-ice- on engine being checked
Max range airspeed formula
205 + 1/2 GW in thousands minus altitude in thousands
