General Knowledge Flashcards
long-tail keywords
Relatively specific. They typically have low search volume, low competition, and may have a higher conversion rate because the customer typically knows exactly what they are looking for.
Short-tail keywords
broader searches that typically have high search volume and high competition. They may have lower conversion because the customer is browsing for different options.
A/B testing
(also known as split tests) lets you compare two versions of content so you can see which performs better. You can use A/B testing to learn how to build better content that appeals to your customers and helps to drive more sales.
keyword stuffing
When you use the same keywords again and again in your content. While at one time it was an acceptable SEO practice, it created a poor user experience because it made it difficult for customers to find the products they were looking for. Keyword stuffing is bad SEO practice and can now incur penalties and a loss of potential customers.
conversion rate
The result of a buyer taking action. This is the percentage of potential buyers that complete a purchase out of the total number of visitors.
As more visitors buy products, this grows. Use this as a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for measuring the impact of your SEO efforts.
BSR
Best Sellers Rank - Calculation based on AMZ sales.
Updated hourly to reflect recent and historical sales of a product, and these are compared to that of other products in the same category.
You can find any product’s BSR by holding down “command + F” in a listing and searching “Best Sellers Rank.”
Pricing war
Occurs when two or more rival sellers compete to get the largest market share of their products by lowering prices repeatedly to be the least expensive.
A price war can erupt anytime between competitors because of the nature of ecommerce pricing. Sellers can change prices quickly with just a click of a mouse, or they can use automated price optimization tools.
Compounding
My hard work and efforts are multiplying off of each other in a variety of ways, even though I may not see it right away.
Don’t give up 3 feet from the gold. It’s there. It’s coming.
