General Knowledge Flashcards
This causes more fire fighter deaths than smoke, flame or building collapse. Only heart attacks from overexertion kill more firefighters in the line of duty.
Driving the apparatus
Apparatus placement considerations:
Not blocking additional incoming units
Allowing for aerial operations
Staying outside of collapse zone
Avoiding overhead obstructions
Allowing fire fighting crews to work impeded
Blocking emergency scene in personnel from hazards.
Considerations for driver operator during emergency operations:
Accountability of personnel
Maintaining communication with personnel of changes in fire conditions in water supply
Establishing a safe work area utilizing cones and or scene tape
Wearing full turnout gear with SBA and prepared to enter and I DLH environment
Ensuring a secondary or backup hose line is deployed when necessary
Establishing a continuous water supply
Wearing a safety vest working near rotor traffic
Proper seen lighting
Wheels are chocked
Maintaining incident command as needed
Connecting a battery charger to an apparatus:
- Make sure the charger is unplugged from the wall
- Connect read positive cable to read positive terminal to battery
- Connect black negative cable to bare metal on engine or grounded panel on vehicle.
- Use the lowest device setting available with appropriate voltage output
- Plug unit into wall in turn on charger
This type of fluid is an aqueous Urea solution made with ____% urea and _____%Dionized water.
- 5% urea
67. 5%deionized water
Diesel exhaust fluid is used as a consumable in order to lower ______concentration in the diesel exhaust emissions from diesel engines
NOx concentration
How does diesel exhaust fluid work?
From a separate tank it is injected into the exhaust pipe line, where the aqueous urea vapor rises and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide, both are harmless, and these are then released through the exhaust.
With a proximately ___%diesel exhaust fluid left in the tank, the indicator lamp will first illuminate to alert the driver to low diesel exhaust fluid. The lamp will then begin to flash with approximately _____%of diesel exhaust fluid left in the tank
10%
5%
On Highway vehicles can travel ___to ____miles on 1 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid
200-300mile
What steps do you take to perform a stationary Regen procedure?
Pull the apparatus on an apron or open area
Make sure region inhibit(send switch) switch is in the down position
Press the stationary region switch( first switch) to the down position for five seconds and let off.
A 2 1/2 gallon container of diesel exhaust fluid is recommended to refill the diesel exhaust fluid tank. If you wait until the diesel exhaust fluid level is down to a _____, the 2 1/2 gallon refill will not overfill the DEF tank
1/4 tank
