General diagnosis PE Flashcards
When BP, RR, temperature and pule levels are at what levels should urgent referral to hospital occur?
BP <90/60, RR >28, temp >+ 102*F, pule > 120 BPM
Normal temp? How do the rectal and axillary temperatures differ from oral temperature?
Name 4 causes of fever >99.5*F.
norm = 98.4-99.5F, rectal temps higher by 0.5-1.0, axillary temps lower by 0.5-.0.
drug reaction, infection, heat stroke, lymphoma
Normal pule? Tachycardia? Bradycardia? 5 causes of Tachycardia and 3 causes of Bradycardia?
norm = 60-100/min, tachycardia > 100/min, bradycardia < 60/min
tachycardia: drug reaction, fever, panic disorder, hyperthyroidism, severe anemia
bradycardia: hypothyroidism, athlete’s heart syndrome, raised intracranial pressure
Normal RR? Tachypnea? Bradypnea? 7 causes of tachypnea and 2 causes of bradypnea?
norm = 14-20 BPM, tachypnea>20, bradypnea<14
tachypnea: asthma, lung infection, diabetic ketoacidosis, CHF, emphysema, sarcoidosis, panic disorder
bradypnea: drug reaction, brain stem compression
Normal BP? What should the mm Hg difference between arms be? What BP is considered shock? What is the equation for pulse pressure? 7 causes for elevated BP and 4 causes for low BP?
norm = 140-90/90-60, less than 10 mm/Hg b/w arms, >140/90 (after 3 readings)= HTN, <90/60 = shock
Elevated BP: white coat (HTN), hypertension, cushing’s syndrome, conn’s disease, unilateral renal artery stenosis, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma
Low BP: may be normal, shock, depression, addison’s disease
BMI (lbs/hight inches^2)x703
underweight <18.5, normal 18.5-24.9, overweight 25-29.9, class 1 obesity 30-34.9, class 2 obesity 35-39.5-9, class 3 obesity >40
