Particularly slim and elegant, the xxxxx sighthound gives a general impression of great slenderness. Its bone structure and muscles show through thin and dry skin. It is a slender dog whose body fits into a rectangle with a vertical long side.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS:
Height at the withers / Scapulo-ischial length: 10-9 (a ratio slightly lower in females is allowed)-
Height at the withers / Depth of chest: 10-4. Length of head / Length of muzzle: 10-5.
Head length / Width of skull: 10-4.
Azawakh
Elegant, racy yet strong, without coarseness. A dignified hound with fine skin marked by its muscular leanness. Capable of sustained effort over long distance.
Sloughi
Medium sized primitive type of dog with an elegant and slender shape, compact and strong built with a fine coat and upright ears, always alert. The conformation is built on sub-longish lines.
IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS:
The length of the body is equal to the height at the withers (square). The depth of the chest is slightly less than the height from elbow to ground. Length of head is 4/10th of the height of the withers . The muzzle never to be shorter than skull. Dolichocephalic skull and with a cephalic index of less than 50%.
Stop with an angle of approximately 150°. The length of the loin is approximately one fifth of the height at the withers and its width is nearly the same as its length. The length of the croup is about a third of the height at the withers and its width is nearly half its length. Depth of chest slightly less than half the height at the withers (about 43%) and width (measured at the widest part of the chest) is less of a third (about 27%) of the height at the withers. The thoracic perimeter exceeds the height of the withers by about 1/8th.
Cirneco
Tall, narrow, finely built, large erect ears.
Ibizan
The xxxxx Hound is medium sized, of noble bearing with clean-cut lines. Graceful yet powerful. Very fast with free easy movement and alert expression.
Pharaoh
Important proportions:
Large and Medium sized xxxxx: Almost square (sub-mediolinear) of large or medium substance respectively. Ratio of length of body to height at the withers; 11/10 and depth of chest to height at withers:1/2.
Small xxxxx: Body slightly longer than high (sub-longilinear), of small stature. The length of the body is slightly more than the height at withers with a ratio , length of body/ height at withers; 6/5 and depth of chest/height at withers 1/2. In all varieties, the muzzle is less than the skull length.
Podengo
The xxxxx should represent a well balanced, strong, muscular, agile and active dog, symmetrical in outline and capable of great endurance with a fair amount of speed. The emphasis is on agility, elegance and soundness with no tendency towards massiveness. The peculiarity of the breed is the ridge on the back, which is formed by the hair growing in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat.
Ridgeback
Well proportioned, giving impression of great strength and stamina.
