General / Anatomy Flashcards
What are the flexor zones of injury of the FINGERS?
Zone 1: to mid middle phalanx (A5, C3, FDP)
Zone 2: to MC neck (all other pulleys, bifurcation of FDS+FDP, TRL volar plates, ORL origin)
Zone 3: to base of MC (lumbricals)
Zone 4: to distal wrist crease (flexor retinaculum, FCR + FCU insertion, FDS, FDP, median nerve
Zone 5: below distal wrist crease (
What are the flexor zones of injury of the THUMB?
T Zone 1: to mid proximal phalanx (FPL insertion)
T Zone 2: over prox phlanax to MC neck
T Zone 3: over MC
T Zone 4: (thenar group)
What are the attachments of the pulleys?
A2 & A4: osseous bony attachment
(shorten 25% with flexion)
A1, A3, A5: insert into the volar plate they arise
(shorten 50% with flexion)
