Strategic management model that aims to improve the performance of an organization by clearly defining objectives that are agreed to by both management and employees. According to the theory having a say in goal setting, and action plan encourages participation and commitment among employees as well as aligning objectives across the organization
Management process four basic steps . Each is present in all managing situations
Planning: -determining the goals of the business and developing the strategy and tactics to accomplish the goals
Organizing- communicating the plan to those who will carry it out and developing the team framework and resources required to successfully implement the plan
Directing - using personnel management skills to motivate people to accomplish various steps of the plan through appropriate allocation of resources
Evaluating - measuring and analyzing the success of the management process and providing the information required to adapt and modify management decisions
Three general types of planning occur in business depending on the level and durations of the plan:
Strategic planning -long range five to ten years into the future . Must predict and plan how the practice will be positioned down the road in relation to other practices and marketplace. Envisions practice size and location type and number of clients
Tactical planning - planning for the near future. One to three years . Specify the steps or tactics required to attain the overall long range strategy. Facility expansion, employee acquisition and training
Operational planning - short range days and weeks immediate. Evolves tactical planning. Identifies specific steps indicated who will accomplish the and ensures the resources are budgeted . One operational plan is designated and implemented a manger must monitor the results and adapt the plan as needed to keep the practice in line with the tactical and strategic longer range planning

A statement of the role or purpose by which a practice intends to serve its stakeholders

The art of guiding people I. A manner that commands their respect confidentiality and whole heated cooperation

A management process tool that assists in identifying and targeting measurable performance goals in operational quadrants: client perspective, patient perspective, learning and growth perspective and financial perspective
