Q

DNA replication can be based on

A

Insertion or deletion:
causing the base triplet composition of amino acid to change along the entire polypeptide chain after mutation. Causing a change in the protein

Base substitution:
One base is substituted for another causing a change in the genetic code and amino acid composition of a protein. Does not always change the resulting polypeptide chain, causing it to be degenerate

Q

Why do some mutations not cause a change

A

As all base triplet codons code for only 20 amino acids, mutations can occur without affecting the amino acid produced
