Chivalry thesis is criticised for ignoring that a lot of male crimes are under reported.

Heidersohn argues about patriarchal control and how women commit less crime because they are controlled at work, at home and in the public.
Parsons
Parsons defines functional sex theory as because the man and woman are socialised into expressive roles which is more feminine and gentle so they commit less crime while men are socialised into instrumental roles which are more aggressive and risk taking so they commit more crime.
Criticism of sex theory
Walklate criticises sex role theory for its biologicals assumptions as Parsons assumes that because woman have the best biological capacity to bear children, they are best suited to the expressive role.

Liberation thesis argues how that due to patriarchy slowly disappearing and women being liberated, their crimes will become as frequent and as serious as mens.

Most female criminals are working class which is the least likely class to be liberated by patriarchy
