What is a spur gear?
A
It has 2 gears one known as the driver and one as the driven. One is bigger than the other

What is a gear train?
A
A gear train is usually made up of two or more gears

What is an idler gear?
A
A gear which is used to give two main gears the ability to turn in the same direction

What is a compound gear?
A
Where a number of gears are fixed together meaning the rotate at they same speed

What is a Rack and Pinion gear?
A
A system allowing movement in a linear motion. The rack is straight and flat with teeth and pinion is a normal cog.

What’s a bevel gear?
A
Used to change direction of drive in a gear system by 90 degrees

What is a worm gear?
A
The worm always drives the worm wheel round, the worm has 1 tooth
