Tonality
Arrangement of pitches and chords in a piece of music (. Tells us the key and whether its major or minor )
Major
Sounds happy and bright
Minor
Generally thought to sound dark and sad . Sharpened 7th note (sharp )
Modulation
Moving to a different key during the piece
Dominant key
Major scale built on the fifth note of the scale e.g the dominant key c major is g major (5notes between them )
Relative minor key
Minor scale 3 semi tones below the major tonic . Sharing the same key signature (e.g major =c and its relative minor 5notes down will be a minor )
Relative major key
Major scale 3 semitones above the major tonic , sharing same key signtuare . E.g (a minor goes with c major )
Pentatonic
Scale comprising five notes
